DESIGN STORY : EQUATE VACUUM
In one of the Product Design studio classes in SADI, students were asked to design a new concept product based on individually chosen target user lifestyle. Great amount of freedom was given for the students to take control of their own projects, and the core focus of the project was to provide the right solution for the right consumers. This project is about offering a special handheld vacuum for the luxurious lifestyle.
HOT TRENDS
With the objective of creating a new cleaning product for consumers with a luxurious lifestyle, general research about the trend of home appliances and consumer behaviors was done. Initially starting with trend research allowed the project to be updated on what consumers were experiencing today and what this project needed to concentrate on.

LEADING PRODUCTS OF TODAY
Specific evaluation research of existing handheld vacuum products was performed in order to better understand the positive and negative aspects of successful products.

INSPIRATION GATHERING
Researches about related fields, available technology, and materials helped to set a certain standard and prepare for references during the actual designing process.

KNOWING THE USER
At this point, there was enough information to create the main target user mood board and perform first-hand observational research based on the mood board.

DESIGN DIRECTION FOCUS
Through a the process of brainstorming, the design direction was chosen and relating mood boards were created.

SUMMARY & LEARNINGS
